Welcome

 Mission

Speech is language and language is speech. Speech-Language Pathologists have been leaders in spoken and written language for decades. Competent speaking, reading, and writing skills are the foundation for critical thinking. Every person is a unique learner. Speech-language intervention is the pathway for establishing areas of need to be addressed and then, the necessary foundation skills to speak, read and write. Together we develop these skills for critical thinking.  By cultivating literacy and critical thinking, a person gains access to what the world has to offer and improves their opportunities for lifelong success and personal fulfilment.

Facts

  • In early childhood, children with phonological problems are often slow to develop speech and language

  • A child may make multiple speech errors and have problems with word-finding, grammatical forms and following the ‘flow’ of conversation

  • Reading and writing difficulties occur when a child demonstrates phonological difficulties

  • Related issues can be present, such as learning to decode print and reading (language) comprehension problems

These problems are not related to intelligence but to differences in how our brains process linguistic information

MV Language is an independent resource for families searching to support their child who is lagging in speech and language acquisition at the preschool level,  reading and writing acquisition in school from elementary to secondary levels, and who may be having difficulties with social language development. MV Language offers comprehensive speech-language assessment and intervention that considers the whole person. Formal and informal measures are used to determine a specific set of intervention goals and effective intervention strategies to achieve success in one-to-one sessions. Integration of language and executive functioning skills and critical thinking are emphasized to improve memory, organization and process abilities.

Adult learners can receive services that help them overcome their reading and writing difficulties. Also, adults may want to prepare for professional development that requires competency in literacy to move forward in their careers.

MV Language is a resource for EL learners who strive to be fluent, clear speakers of English for multiple purposes. Literacy is emphasized to improve opportunities for secondary study.

“Having taught lower elementary children in an inner-city school for a number of years, I know first-hand, the need for quality speech acquisition therapy that Nancy Steinbock provides.  It is imperative for students to learn the fundamentals of speech-language and reading.  These skills and knowledge serve as the building blocks for later academic endeavors and significantly contribute to the individual’s success in all areas of life.

The positive impact that Nancy Steinbock’s intervention can have on a child cannot be overstated. Nancy is extremely knowledgeable and qualified.  She is able to communicate effectively with the children, enabling them to work toward reaching their full potential. In addition, Nancy works tirelessly to ensure that her time with the children is not only educational, but also fun and enjoyable.

For these reasons, I would highly recommend Nancy Steinbock to any family looking to support their child’s need for quality speech-language acquisition therapy.
